CrossMarket

CrossMarket

It's an e-commerce app that compares the prices of a product among many super-markets showing the best price considering discounts and offerts. The reason I've made this app was for a 2 months contest during the Accademy in Digital Innovation. At the end of the two months my team and me, we had to show our work: building up from scratch a digital innovative start-up. So the app was a "show-off" finalized to present better our idea during the conclusive conference. Our idea won the first prize of the contest.

Of course there are many apps like that, for sure better than mine, but I used this as a pretext to start developing in Android.

Photon Mapping Revisited

Photon Mapping Revisited

The university of Florence has developed a software for rendering images called aRt (another ray tracer). This software it's been fully developed by computation geometry students from year to year. The algorithm that I've worked on (photon mapping revisited), developed under the supervision of Alberto Mancini, adds to aRt an important element: the capability of representing the inter-reflection effects, that is actually a limit of the ray tracer itself. This algorithm was developed starting from the one presented by T. Hachisuka, S. Ogaki and H. W. Jensen in this report "Progressive photon mapping" in the 2008.
